Markers at a Discount – Save Money on Your Markers

There are so many wonderful marker brands out there that is it hard to figure out what to buy. I’ve recently bought the full set of Blick Markers and many of the Concept Markers trying to find a less expensive way to get lots of colors.

The Blick Studio Brush Markers come in 95 colors, have a brush and a broad nib and are not refillable. Cost per marker is $2.99 if purchased separately.I was pleasantly surprised with the ‘color’ of the cool grays. I also couldn’t figure out what their numbering system is. If anyone figures it out, let me know.

Here’s the charts that I made of the colors:

The Concept Markers, from Jerry’s Artarama come in 72 colors, have a bullet and a broad nib and are not refillable. Cost per marker is $1.69 if purchased separately. I was pleasantly surprised with the ‘inkiness’ of the markers. But the caps often don’t match the color of the ink. (see those marked *)

Here’s the charts that I made of the colors that I have:

One more option is the Bic Mark-it Markers come in 36 colors, come in either a fine nib or ultra fine point nib and are not refillable. Cost for a set of 32 is Ultra-fine is$22 and $18 for fine. My ultra fine have dried out a bit but the fine (similar to a bullet nib) are still good after a year. In the chart the broad strokes are the fine and the “z” to the right of the name is ultra-fine.The caps sometimes don’t match the color of the ink. (see those marked *)

Here’s a comparison of the nibs from left to right: Copic (the industry standard) Blick brush, blick broad, Concept Broad, Concept Bullet, Bic Fine and Bic Ultra-Fine.

I hope this serves to help you save money on your markers.
