Portraits can be a challenge with any medium. This young boy is a good place to start and is not that difficult. You’ll enjoy painting him. Based on a reference photo by Theilr on Flicker he must have been in a B&B in Edinburgh.
For those of you that have completed Level 2 it’s time to practice your brush, pen, marker skills and values with this portrait of a Young Boy
This is a good beginning to understand how paint a portrait. This is a good one to paint before you paint the Young Girl in the Cold. Minimal facial colors makes it easier to create this portrait. The wonderful thick head of hair is a lot of fun and can be painted either with a brush or markers.
Skills prerequisite for this class are brush and pen.

Loved this course! I am so pleased with how it turned out and I feel like I can use the techniques taught in this class for other portraits.
Young Boy Portrait was a first for me. It pushed me, but the experience was well worth the time I spent with this painting. Sheryl, thanks for sharing your talent as an artist.
